The Lake House
SODA Studio has completed the refurbishment of a
lakeside property in the Cotswolds, with a focus on simple forms, a bold
material palette and harnessing views out to the surrounding landscape. The Lakes House now
has a fully opened up ground floor, which provides a multipurpose living space.
A central feature of the room is a monolithic kitchen island that is made of
peach-coloured cast concrete.
Throughout the house sawn oak timber joinery
softens the atmosphere and provides contrast against the bold blackened steel
details. A staircase leading to the first floor is encased in a full-height,
blackened timber providing a sense of intimacy as you move to the more private
bedrooms and bathrooms.
