The Binary
Located in Bankside, south London, this
project saw the conversion of a former Metropolitan Police training facility into
bright and modern office space in a densely occupied site in Southwark. Existing floorplates were remodelled, concrete
soffits and columns were stripped back to expose their original materiality and
a dramatic, multi-functional entrance space was created to provide flexible and changing experience. All common parts were reconfigured
and replaced to create a modern industrial aesthetic.
Externally,
new glazing was added throughout with sliding feature windows at ground and
first floors, whilst the thermal performance of the building was also upgraded.
The former service yard was overhauled to include an
external events space with tiered seating and external cinema screen.
