Soho House Dean Street
To create a new members club venue
for Soho House we restored and refurbished this Grade II Listed, Georgian
townhouse after it had been gutted by fire and left derelict. Having first
secured the site (there were no floors and only the front and rear facades
remaining), we began by reintroducing a large rear courtyard to centre the
spaces on and create a unique space in the heart of Soho.
Original details from 1732 were
meticulously reinstated, including a majestic maritime mural in the entrance
hall and fine wall panelling throughout. In addition, we added a new mews
building, housing kitchens and bars, and a state-of-the-art screening room in a
newly excavated basement beneath.
Across the five storeys the townhouse now provides living, drawing and library
rooms centred around the courtyard. The mews building, which fronts onto the
neighbouring street simultaneously complements the period setting of the Listed
building and also showcases its own contemporary origin.
