Compton Courtyard Mural

Throughout its illustrious history, Compton Courtyard has housed eminent groups of creative tenants, including shoe manufacturers, engravers and printers.

The street-facing building facade lacked creativity and energy, so we designed the 11×5 metre mural to increase street presence and create a visual identity to reflect the hidden courtyard behind the gates.

Using a greenery inspired palette, we drew inspiration from the plants within the concealed courtyard – layering our sketches into a junglelike landscape. The overlaying pattern and zest of colour expresses the freedom of creative minds found within Compton Courtyard and this was also extracted and applied within the interior entrance, providing a striking fluidity between the inside and out.
