London Festival of Architecture
It’s time for round two! Our second event, as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2017, will be held on Saturday 17th June.
Composer Benjamin Tassie and poet Annie Freud will present a surround-sound live choir installation at the disused Carlsberg Tetley Building at Silvertown West (DLR). SODA will be there hosting a guided tour along with Mill Co London showing the building in its previous dilapidated condition and now during the construction works before opening this summer as new, creative workspace. The choir performance will be hosted throughout the building and there will also be a bar until late…
New text by poet Annie Freud explores the narratives and changing history of the Royal Docks, from the Silvertown explosion of 1917 to the lost pubs of Silvertown, creatively reimagining the layers of history, changing communities and varied voices connected to the area. Site-specific music for choir will immerse audiences in this poetry. The choir, positioned at the building’s edgeand throughout the spaces, will ‘perform’ the architecture of the site with audiences connected to Silvertown’s past and present through the shared, immersive experience of song.
